Introduction: This cheesy sausage and broccoli casserole is a delicious, easy-to-make comfort food dish. With hearty sausage, nutritious broccoli, and a melty cheese topping, it’s perfect for a family dinner or a crowd-pleasing side dish!
Ingredients:
- 1 lb sausage (your choice: chicken, pork, or beef sausage), sliced
- 2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with a little olive oil or non-stick spray.
- Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Prepare the Broccoli: If using fresh broccoli, steam or blanch it for 3-4 minutes until tender but still firm. If using frozen broccoli, just thaw and drain excess moisture.
- Assemble the Casserole: In the greased baking dish, layer the cooked sausage, followed by the broccoli. Sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Pour the heavy cream over the top.
- Add Cheese: Top with shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
- Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown on top.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and serve hot!
Note: This dish can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for a quick meal later. Simply reheat in the oven for a few minutes before serving!
