📝 Ingredients (Serves 3–4)

For the Cups:

  • 3–4 small brioche rolls or soft bread rolls
  • 1 tbsp butter (for greasing)

For the Custard Filling:

  • 2 cups (500 ml) milk
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Optional Toppings:

  • Powdered sugar
  • Honey or caramel drizzle
  • Raisins or chocolate chips

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the Bread Cups

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Slice the tops off the rolls.
  3. Hollow out the center to create a cup shape (don’t break the sides).
  4. Lightly butter the inside and outside.
  5. Place on a baking tray.

2. Make the Custard

  1. Heat milk in a saucepan until warm (not boiling).
  2. In a bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
  3. Slowly pour warm milk into the mixture while whisking.
  4. Return to heat and cook until thick and creamy.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract.

3. Assemble

  1. Fill each bread cup with the custard.
  2. Add optional raisins or chocolate chips if desired.

4. Bake

  • Bake for 15–20 minutes until:
    • The tops are slightly golden
    • The custard is set

5. Serve

  • Let cool slightly
  • Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle honey
  • Serve warm for best flavor 😋
