Sticky Honey Garlic Ribs

Serves: 4–6

Time: ~2.5 hours (mostly baking)

Ingredients

  • 1.3–1.5 kg (3 lb) pork ribs, cut into individual ribs
  • Salt & black pepper

Honey Garlic Sauce

  • 1 cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup hoisin sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp garlic, minced
  • 1–2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prep & bake (tenderizing stage)
    Preheat oven to 170°C / 340°F. Season ribs lightly with salt and pepper.
    Arrange ribs in a baking dish, cover tightly with foil, and bake 90 minutes until very tender.
  2. Make the sauce
    In a saucepan over medium heat, combine all sauce ingredients.
    Simmer 8–10 minutes, stirring, until slightly thick and glossy.
  3. Glaze & caramelize
    Increase oven to 220°C / 430°F. Uncover ribs, brush generously with sauce.
    Bake 20–30 minutes, turning and brushing every 8–10 minutes, until sticky and caramelized.
  4. Finish
    Let rest 5 minutes. Spoon extra sauce over the ribs and serve hot.

Tips

  • For extra sticky ribs, broil (grill) the last 2–3 minutes—watch closely.
  • Works great on the grill too: finish over medium heat, basting often.
